Steady Flow Measured Forces Proven Designs
BioZent LLC is a computer integrated systems design practice working from its lab at 350 E 400 S Ste 500, Salt Lake City - 84111-2993, in the United States. The team builds and operates wind tunnel test sections for clients who need repeatable aerodynamic evidence rather than assumptions. Every run produces traceable measurements of pressure, velocity and structural load so design decisions rest on proof.
The Run Matrix
Six work streams form the core of the BioZent LLC practice. Each stream is scheduled as a discrete run and documented as a traceable record. Clients can enter the matrix at any point, and every entry links straight to the detailed service page.
Flow Path Architecture
We shape the complete breathing path of a facility, from intake bell through contraction cone, honeycomb straightener and test section to the diffuser exit. Geometry is modelled digitally before any steel is cut, so flow quality is designed rather than corrected later.
Flow quality verifiedLoad Testing Programs
Structural campaigns apply measured aerodynamic and mechanical loads to models, brackets and full assemblies. Force balance data is sampled at high rate and reduced into load envelopes that engineers can defend in front of a regulator.
Instrumentation Rigs
Custom rigs carry pressure taps, hot wire probes, strain gauges and pitot rakes into position with repeatable indexing. Every tap is labelled and every channel is traceable to a calibration certificate before the run begins.
Turbulence Retrofit Design
Older tunnels often carry swirl, separation bubbles and uneven boundary layers. We redesign the straightener, screens and settling chamber so an existing shell can deliver modern flow uniformity without a full rebuild.
Calibration Runs
Scheduled calibration passes verify that probes, balances and data acquisition chains still agree with their references. Results are issued as a dated report that supports any downstream certification claim.
Sustained Support Contracts
Long term agreements keep a tunnel available, calibrated and staffed. The contract covers preventive maintenance, spares, operator training and an agreed response window for unplanned stoppages.

BioZent LLC sits in the computer integrated systems design segment of the professional, scientific and technical services sector. That mouthful means something practical: we treat a wind tunnel as one integrated instrument rather than a collection of parts. The civil shell, the drive train, the flow conditioning, the instrumentation and the data acquisition software are all modelled together, because a change in any one of them moves the numbers produced by the others. Clients arrive with a question about drag, lift, ventilation, thermal comfort or structural fatigue, and they leave with a run record that answers it.
The practice began as a small instrumentation workshop and grew into a full test section operator. That history shapes how we work. We favour robust mechanical solutions with clear inspection points over clever assemblies that are hard to service. We write down every assumption. We keep the calibration chain intact. When a result looks surprising we reproduce it before we explain it, and we would rather run the tunnel again than defend a number we cannot repeat.
Our lab in Salt Lake City - 84111-2993 operates a subsonic closed circuit facility with a working section suited to models and sub assemblies. Around it we maintain a machine shop, an electronics bench and a data reduction workstation, which means a design change can be cut, installed and re-tested inside a single working week. That turnaround is the reason many clients begin with a calibration run and stay for a sustained support contract.
Evidence Before Opinion
Every deliverable is a measurement record, not a slide deck. Pressure maps, velocity profiles, force traces and uncertainty budgets are handed over in a form that another engineer can audit independently.
Built to Be Maintained
Rigs, screens and seals are designed around access. A technician with hand tools should be able to replace a honeycomb cell block or a pressure tap without dismantling the whole tunnel.
Why Clients Return to the Same Test Section
Consistency is the quiet advantage of a well run tunnel. When the flow quality does not drift between campaigns, a result from last year can be compared directly with a result from this year. BioZent LLC protects that continuity through a fixed flow path architecture, documented instrumentation rigs and a calibration schedule that never depends on memory.
- Stable contraction ratio and honeycomb straightening
- Repeatable model indexing and angle setting
- Traceable pressure and force channels
- Version controlled data reduction scripts
- Archived run records kept for audit
BioZent LLC opens its fourth quarter run calendar for new tunnel bookings and retrofit surveys.
What a Typical Engagement Looks Like
A first conversation is usually about the decision the client needs to make. Perhaps a housing developer needs to know whether a courtyard design will funnel wind at pedestrian level. Perhaps a manufacturer needs fatigue data on a bracket that keeps cracking in the field. Perhaps a university has a tunnel shell but cannot get a flat velocity profile. In each case we start by writing down the question in measurable terms, because a vague run produces a vague answer.
From there the work divides cleanly. If the facility needs shaping we begin with flow path architecture. If hardware must survive a load we design a load testing program. If the measurement itself is the weak link we build new instrumentation rigs. If the tunnel is already standing but behaves badly we propose a turbulence retrofit. Before any long campaign we protect confidence with calibration runs, and for facilities that must stay in service year after year we put a sustained support contract in place. The six streams are not separate products so much as stages of one engineering habit.
Reporting closes the loop. Each campaign ends with a written record that states what was tested, how the tunnel was configured, what the uncertainty was and what the data supports. Where a finding changes a design, we say so plainly. Where the data is inconclusive, we say that too, and we propose the additional run that would settle the matter.
Talk to the Lab
The fastest way to scope a run is to describe the decision you need to make and the object you need to test. Send the geometry if you have it, or simply describe the problem. We will reply with a proposed tunnel configuration, an estimated run count and a date. BioZent LLC works with clients across the United States and welcomes first time enquiries as readily as repeat campaigns.
